The prevention of breast cancer is essential to reduce its incidence and mortality.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women worldwide, and it is estimated that 2.3 million new cases of this neoplasm are diagnosed each year.

About Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is a type of cancer that forms in the cells of the breast.
Normal breast cells grow and divide in an orderly fashion to produce more cells, which are needed during puberty and pregnancy.
However, on occasion, this normal process can be disrupted, leading to abnormal and disordered cell growth that leads to the formation of a malignant tumor or breast cancer.

Importance of Breast Cancer Prevention and Early Detection

Early detection is an indispensable piece in the effective treatment of breast cancer.
Timely diagnosis can be achieved through tests including mammograms and other medical screenings.

It is recommended that women between the ages of 50 and 69 have a mammogram every two years.
Women who have a family history of breast cancer or are at higher risk may need screening well before age 50.

The importance of prevention and early detection of breast cancer can never be overstated.
Early detection of breast cancer is estimated to increase the chances of survival by up to 90%.
Additionally, breast cancer prevention reduces the risk of developing other types of cancers and cardiovascular diseases.
